The Dawson County Historical Society and Museum
Founded in 1958, the Dawson County Historical Society is dedicated to ongoing preservation of the historical and cultural identity of Dawson County Nebraska and the surrounding areas. This includes maintaining museum facilities in Lexington and opening our collections of documents, photographs, and artifacts to researchers and enthusiasts. We seek to preserve our unique history by showing and teaching what has made Dawson County unique in the eyes of history.
However, we cannot accomplish our mission without the help of others. While some museums benefit from full government or corporate sponsorship, the Dawson County Historical Society and Museum does not. Less than a third of our annual budget comes from government sources, the rest comes from membership dues, donations, and sales from our museum store. Please take a moment and consider joining the Dawson County Historical Society, your membership is crucial in our ability to providing adequate preservation measures for our collections and for community education opportunities.
