PRESS RELEASE

Join the Dawson County Historical Society for their Annual Meeting at Chipper Hall in Cozad on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 PM. Lance Bristol, President of the Custer County Historical Society and who also serves of the Board of Trustees for the Nebraska Historical Society, will present a program on the famous photographer, Solomon Butcher. Mr. Butcher came to Nebraska in 1880 where he established the first photographic gallery in Custer County. From that time, until his death in 1927, he documented the settlement of Nebraska. He left a legacy of over 4000 negatives and prints spanning the settlement of Custer, Dawson, and Buffalo counties and the Sandhills. Immediately following the program we will have refreshments and a short meeting.
